King George’s bowls club
King George’s bowls club
King George’s Club is located in King George's Playing Fields on the Eastern Avenue in Romford. The club was founded in 1979 and was originally known as The Collier Row Royal British Legion Bowls Club.
The name was changed in 1997 to the King George's Bowls Club we know today.
During this time the members of the club have made lots of improvements including an extension to the original building, a new kitchen and incorporating unused football changing rooms into the clubs facilities.
Last year with the help of Veolia ES Cleanaway Havering Riverside Trust, a new fence and gates, new electric shutters for the pavilion and a new container for storage were installed. Also, with help from the Probation Service the grounds around the bowls green were cleared and a new internal fence was erected.
We are now looking forward to the new 2009 season in which the County Association have given King George’s the opportunity to hold one of the prestigious Ashford Cup finals at our club. The final will be played at 10.00 am on the 9th August 2009.
